Founded in the spring of 2000, HorseJockey.com
is the first online barrel horse auctioning system in the
world. Started by entrepreneur David W. Smith of Owensboro,
Ky., HorseJockey.com is a place that brings buyers
and sellers together.
In September of 2000, David brought Brian
S. Newman into the HorseJockey.com family as Chief Executive
of Marketing and Sales.
The two have a combined experience of close to 60 years in
the barrel racing industry. They are using this to help push
the
industry to the forefront by putting good horses and prospective
buyers together.
HorseJockey.com is a live interactive site
that allows dealers and individuals to sell their horses,
trailers, trucks and
tack online. We have roots in the horse business and believe
our experience
has allowed us to build the kind of system that benefits
everyone.
The site provides those affiliated with
the horse industry a way to buy and sell items online. Users
can enter items for
sale, and prospective buyers can bid on items. At HorseJockey.com,
sellers may choose a suitable bid, not necessarily based on
the highest bid. Sellers are able to contact bidders and have
the option to delete bids and block bidders that may not be
sincere. A seller can accept a bid or sale an item privately
at anytime. THERE ARE NO COMMISSION CHARGES on HorseJockey.com,
only a nominal listing fee per item for a 30-day listing.
Finally, sellers are charged based
on the reserve value of their item and are not charged a
fee once the item is sold.
In a way, this is similar to placing a classified ad through
a Web site or newspaper. You pay for the ad itself, and the
final item price has nothing to do with the charge.
We believe an online auction is the fairest
means for both buyer and seller because neither is restricted
to
local individuals
or regional auctions. If we can ever be of service to you
in any way please contact us at .
